Peter was the son of Leander McDuffie Rogers and Mary Lucinda Frances Whitmire. He was in the household with his father and some siblings in the 1900 Rabun County, Georgia census. His mother had just passed and children still at home beside Peter were an older brother, Charles, and younger siblings Nancy M., Leander F., and Samuel H.

Peter has married by 1910 and is in the Gilmer County census with wife, Florence L. and sons Manley and Harley.

Peter's wife apparently was known as Dora, for when she died in 1944 her husband is given as Peter Rogers (deceased), parents Joe Rogers and Ann West, and the informant was her son Sanford.

Peter's death date and place are not proven, but we respectfully place his memorial in the cemetery with his wife who is buried here in Cumberland Shed, in Polk County, Tennessee. If proof is found of date and place of interment his burial place can easily be changed.
