Bernard L. Castor, 77, Independence, died June 1, 1987, at the Independence Regional Health Center. He was born in Halbrite, Saskatchewan, Canada and had lived in Independence since 1959. Mr. Castor was a Marine Corps recruiter in Kansas City for three years. He retired from the Marines as a warrant officer in 1957 after 27 years of service. Later he was a salesman for the Sooner Construction Equipment Co., Oklahoma. He was former president of the Rockwood Country Club. He was a member of the Independence Bassmasters Club and the Marine Mustang Club. He was a member of the Englewood Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his wife, Madelynne O. Castor of the home; a stepson, James A. Hayward, Independence; and four grand-children. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Newcomer's Ott & Mitchell Chapel; burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
