Rev. Claud P. Goble, Sr., 89, died Wednesday (March 6, 2019) at the Baptist Village Retirement Communities following a short illness.

He was born in Mershon, GA but had resided in Waycross most of his life. He considered his primary vocation to be a pastor for 43 years but also sold cars for several dealerships in Waycross for many years. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and a founding member of the Dusty Goble and The Star Light Ramblers.

Rev. Goble was a son of the late John M. Goble and Ina Blalock Goble. He was married to the late Betty Hayman Goble.

Survivors include his four children, Dianne Lee (late Ira Buddy) of Donaldsonville, Claud P. Goble, Jr. (Sharon) of Waycross, Joey Goble (Elizabeth) of Woodbine and Jeanne Strickland (Stan) of Waycross; grandchildren, Glenn Ira Lee (Deanna), Bryan Joseph Lee (Tessa), Claud “Bucky” Goble III (Tabatha), Rachael Goble Carter (Brandon), Ryan Goble, Rebecca Goble Dockery (Kris) and Mollie Brown Wilson (Zach); great grandchildren, Hillary Harrell, Hannah Lee, Maddox Lee, Talan Lee, Hamp Goble, Jacob Goble, Isaac Dockery, Kaleb Dockery, Alaina Carter, Luke Wilson, Caroline Wilson and Eliza Julie Wilson; one great great grandchild, Ollie Harrell-Posey; special friends, Mariette Ebarle and Caleb Michael; two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Hayman of Waycross and Katie Manders Goble of Blackshear; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (March 9, 2019) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Friday evening at the funeral home from 5 until 7 o’clock.
