George Wendell Adams, the son of George Wilson and Adrian Ellen (Sibbett) Adams was born September 25, 1934, in Osceola, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Osceola, Iowa, graduating from Osceola High School with the class of 1954.

George was united in marriage to Dorothy Ilene Mason on September 3, 1955, at the Christian Church in Osceola, Iowa. George served his country by entering the United States Army in February 1957. He was stationed in Italy and achieved the rank of E-2. George was honorably discharged in January 1959, having served 1 year, 11 months, and 11 days. After returning stateside, he continued serving his country in the Army Reserves until 1963.

George was a Tool & Die Maker. His work would take Dorothy and himself to various places all across the United States. They finally settled in Fort Madison in the mid 1970’s. He started working for the Sheaffer Pen Company in Ft. Madison in 1974 and would continue there until his retirement. George designed several patents for Sheaffer Pen Company during his time with them.

George was a member of the U.A.W. Union, where he served on the negotiating team. His hobbies included hunting pheasant and he was an avid golfer. George enjoyed spending time with his family. He was well known for his ornery sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish George’s memory is his son: Wendell (Cathleen); two grandchildren: Joshua and Zachary; sister: Georgia; sister-in-law: Mildred; niece: Cindy (Jeff); (Cindy and Jeff were George’s caretakers since Dorothy’s passing); several other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Preceding George in death were his wife, Dorothy, in 2011; his parents; brothers: Bernard, Donald, ­­Burdett and Robert; daughter: Tracey, as an infant; sister: Mary Woods.
