William Ausdemore was born August 26, 1942 at Menominee, NE to Leo and Flavia (Potts) Ausdemore. He grew up on a farm near Crofton, NE and graduated from Crofton High School. He then graduated from Wayne State College in Wayne, NE and then received his Masters Degree in History from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. Bill taught at Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in Sioux City, IA, where he met his wife, Janet Hladky, who was also teaching there. They were married on July 2, 1966. After their marriage, they both taught in Hartington, NE and then Chamberlain, SD. Later on, Bill taught at Lower Brule High School and Sinte Gleska University in Mission, SD. Bill was very active in Chamberlain, where he coached football and started the girls basketball team. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing slow-pitch softball. The Jaycees was a very important part of this life as he was on the State Board of Officers and traveled across South Dakota. Bill was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and served on the St. James Catholic Church Parish Council in Chamberlain. Bill tried his hand with auctioneering and ran his real estate business, The River City Reality. He also rented out houses and managed an eight complex apartment building. After Bill and Jan retired, they moved to Yankton in 2008 and Bill managed the family farm near Utica, SD. At the farm, he collected and loved his 24 John Deere antique tractors. He spent many happy times mowing, gardening, putting up hay, cutting wood and giving his grandkids rides on the tractors. Bill was known for his wit and humor and loved a good comeback.

Bill is survived by his wife, Janet of Yankton; three sons: David (Tiffany) of Mankato, MN, Doug (Jennifer) of Huntington Beach, CA and Darren (Kristy) of Chandler, AZ; six grandchildren, Max (fiancé, Jayma Benda), Madeline, Gavin, Lillian, Ronan and Macklan; four brothers: Jim (Janie) of Pinckney, MI, Steve (Anne) of Wisner, NE, Robert (Angel) of Yankton and Daryl (Denise) of Crofton, NE; two sisters, Judy (Charlie) Guenther of Crofton and Marilyn (Norman) Thomson of Kingwood, WV; and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Adam Ausdemore.
