John "Jack" Knoll, 83, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at McHenry County Valley Hi in Woodstock, IL. He was born on the Fourth of July 1935, in Northbrook, IL. The son of John and Elsa (Heppner) Knoll. Jack married Jane Bremer from Des Plaines, IL on November 29, 1958, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenview, IL. After they were married, he went into the service for 2 years. Upon returning, they moved to a farm at the corner of Gilmer and Fairfield roads in Grayslake, IL. They had 3 children, Karen, Kevin and Kenneth and lived there for 42 years. They raised grain, beef cattle, swine and had a vegetable stand. He also worked off the farm as a Construction Laborer for Local 118 (Now Local 1) for 21 years. In 2002, they purchased an apple farm in Woodstock, IL. They continued to raise and sell vegetables at the home farm stand and local farmer's markets. He was an IL Farm Bureau Member since 1985. He helped to establish the St Matthew Lutheran Church's Pork and Corn Roast in Lake Zurich where he was a member. After moving to Woodstock he became a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Union, IL. He loved fishing, traveling in their camper, and polka dancing. Most of all he loved getting together with his family and friends.
Survived by his wife Jane of 60 years. Surviving are his children, Karen (Duane) Beelow, Mundelein, IL, Kevin (Susana "Sue"), Kenneth "Ken" (Laura Boas) Twin Lakes, WI; Grandchildren, Breannin, Lukas, Justin (Kayla), Cheyanne, RayLynne, Ashley, Kayleen, Bradley; Great-grandchildren, Justin Junior, Kaylin, Jace. Sisters, Marion Engelking, Des Plaines, IL, Bernice (Walter) Bruhn, McHenry, IL and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents John and Elsa (Heppner) Knoll, Brother Robert Knoll, Sister Violet (Knoll) Eichholz.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 1 at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry, IL from 4 to 8 pm. Visitation will continue at McHenry County Memorial Park, 11301 Lake Avenue, Woodstock, IL, Saturday March 2nd from 9:30-10:30 with a Service at 10:30 and burial to follow.
