Charles Bryant Boyer was the youngest of 12 children. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank J. Boyer, Sr. and Virginia E. Hirsch Boyer, eight brothers, three sisters, and Nancy Beasley Boyer, his first wife and the mother of his children

Bryant, as his wife Nancy called him, was a person who believed in work, bravery, and love of country. After high school he served two years in the Army and was stationed in Northern Italy. During this time he traveled extensively, learned to speak Italian, ski, and made many friends. He came home and married his high-school sweetheart, Nancy Beasley. The pair developed a small farm on a piece of land on the original Boyer family property. Here he and his wife trained racehorses, fostered lion and tiger cubs, and enjoyed some success breeding and showing English Mastiffs. A civil engineer by trade, he fit his adventures between long hours of work. He was a loving father to two daughters. Later in life, he greatly enjoyed spending time with his two granddaughters and was an active member of the Greensboro Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Retired Racehorse Project
