Following graduating from high school Richard enlisted into the Army and proudly served our country. Upon Richard's discharge from the Army Richard started his career with Michigan Bell as a Repairman until he retired in 1986.
On April 21, 1961, Richard married his sweetheart Marilyn Shunk and together started their 57 year legacy together. If there was Ballroom Dancing throughout the state Richard and Marilyn could be found participating, this was a big passion for the couple. Later in life Richard became an instructor for Ballroom Dancing. Richard obtained his Pilot's License from Lansing Community College and later owned his own plane. He and Marilyn would fly all around the state; their favorite destination was their yearly flight to Mackinaw Island. Richard also had a love for tinkering on the computer and working with different programs.
Richard is survived by their loving family, wife, Marilyn; sons, Andrew "Andy" (Tracy) Hartsuff, Anthony "Tony" Hartsuff; granddaughter, Kathryn "Katie" Hartsuff.
Richard was preceded in death by his, parents and siblings.
Richards's wishes were to be cremated and to have a celebration of life held at a later date. If desired, the family suggests memorial contributions to The American Cancer Society or Sparrow Hospice.
The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte
