Inscription on stone: "CEMETERY BURIAL SITE OF RUDOLPH RUDY FOREMAN 1833-1899--WIFE EMELINE MOON 1841-1905 (BURIED IN GREELEY, COLO)"

Rudolph was born in Butler, Pennsylvania on Apr 18, 1833, the son of James Hurless and Maria Elizabeth Bortmess Foreman. The 1850 census places the family in the same location. By 1856, they moved to Wisconsin (a letter from his father to his aunt Jane Foreman Butler on file at ancestry.com), and where he married Emeline in 1858. He enlisted in Company 1, Wisconsin 12 Infantry Regiment on Oct 14, 1861, and was mustered out on July 16, 1865. (source: Roster of Wisconsin Volunteers: War of the Rebellion). Two daughters, Sarah (1858-1864) and Mary Ann (1861-1875) were born prior to his enlistment, with 8 children, 5 boys and 3 girls, born after the war. All, with the exception of one son who died in infancy, lived long lives. The 1870 census places him in Kickapoo, Wisconsin, where he lived prior to the Civil War. The 1880 census places him in Bethel, Iowa. He died in 1899, and was buried in the Cedar Gap Missouri Cemetery. The 1900 census places his widow, Emeline, in Finley, Missouri, 11 miles away, as the free and clear owner of a farm.
