Donna Gayle Burris Land, aged 62, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 18th, 2019. Born on March 8th, 1956 to Ronald “Bootsie” and Maureen Rogers Burris, Donna Gayle was the oldest of three children. In her youth, she was crowned Miss Poteet of 1972 and the valedictorian of the 1974 class of Poteet High School. Donna got her Associate’s Degree from Bee County College and also attended SWTSU. Upon graduation, Donna worked at the Atascosa County Tax Office. She married the love of her life, John Land, in 1977 with whom she had two daughters: Jessica Gayle and Lindsey Ann. After raising her family, she followed in her mother’s footsteps by working in the Pleasanton ISD Business Office, where she just completed her 25th year of service. Donna was an avid sports fan who loved watching her children’s sporting events, as well as any game she could find on TV. She thrived on the opportunity to spend quality time surrounded by her beloved family that often included a competitive game of cards or dominos. Above all, she cherished her relatively new role as a proud grandmother to five babies under the age of four. Donna was known for her selflessness, patience, kindness, attention to detail, love of numbers, superb memory, and above all, her desire to always put others before herself. Donna is survived by her husband of 41 years, John, her daughters Jessica Stanush and her husband Francis, Lindsey Taylor and her husband Kevin, as well as her grandchildren, Sofia Maureen Taylor, Carolyn Gayle Stanush, Laney Marie Stanush, Emma Frances Stanush, and John Samuel Taylor. She is also survived by brothers Keith (Kristal) and Jay (Shannon) Burris, Uncle Roy Rogers and Aunt Sudie Halpin, mother and father-in-law, Manuel and Barbara Land, as well as a host of other family members. She is preceded in death by her mother, Maureen Rogers Burris, her father, Ronald “Bootsie” Burris, and grandparents, Bessie & Cleo Rogers. She is deeply loved and will be truly missed by all those who knew her.
