Married Emma R. Thomas in 1872
Father of 9 children, three died young: Hannah at the age of 7 and Charles and William in infancy.
He was identified with the business life of Clarks since its inception, first as a merchant, later in the banking business and for a number of the later years of his life in the real estate and insurance business.

After an illness of many weeks the ground work of which was laid one day last summer when he made a trip to Omaha and became overcome with the heat. W R Morse gave up the struggle Sunday evening at 11 o’clock and fell asleep. It had been known here for many days that his time was limited and while his indomitable will kept him from taking his bed until a few weeks ago his friends all knew and had discounted his passing. His death was caused by arterial sclerosis complicated by kidney trouble In the passing of W R Morse this town loses one of its original settlers as well as one of its best friends. Staunch and true to Clarks through all the years he labored for its upbuilding and betterment. Nothing ever came up of interest to the citizenship of this town that did not find W R Morse lined up on the side of progress.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock A short service was held at the house after which the body was taken to the congregational church Here Rev Kraemer had charge and after a short eulogy and prayer Hon J C Martin of Central City for many years a close personal and business friend of the dead man pronounced feelingly a glowing tribute to the steadfastness of the friendship of his friend.
From the church the Masons of which Mr Morse was a charter member of the local lodge took charge and at the grave the last beautiful rites of this order were observed Mr Martin read the obituary.
