KATIE'S STORY

Katie Lou Donica-Cogburn, 81, of Honobia, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019, at the Broken Bow Health and Rehab.

Katie was born to William (Bill) Donica and Dema Lee (Isom) Donica-White on March 17, 1938 in Honobia, OK.

Ms. Katie attended the Smithville Assembly of God Church and had lived in the Honobia area for nearly the past 20 years.

Katie was known as the Kiamichi Songbird, cutting an album of the music and songs of the Kiamichi Mountains. Katie was associated with the Kiamichi Mountain Christian Mission, located in Honobia, and was one of the founders of the Honobia Bigfoot Festival and Conference, along with other community leaders.

Katie loved to write music and directing revival meetings all over the United States. She attended Midwest Christian College in Oklahoma City, Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, and Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant; first obtaining her LPN License and later obtaining her RN License.

Ms. Katie enjoyed ministering to others through her nursing and home health caretaking. She also enjoyed and loved to paint throughout her life. Katie was known to build and paint artwork and unique items for others to decorate their homes.

Ms. Katie was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Donica and Dema Donica-White; brother, Dawton Riley Donica; and a sister, Serena Donica-Fredrick.

Ms. Katie leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons, Joey Walter Loving, and wife, Nina, of Albuquerque, NM, and Troy Jon Loving Fewell, and wife, Indira Ruth, of Frisco, TX;

Grandchildren, Jon Loving and Katherine Loving, Patricia Diandra Loving and Bianca Loving, Levi Walter Fewell and Lane Chrisman;

Brother, Rodman Donica, of Sherman, TX; several nieces and nephews, along with a host of other relatives and many friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, February 22, 2019, at 2:00PM, at the Zafra Church, Zafra, OK, with Pastor Kent Perkins officiating with the help of Charles Cubit and Jon Vails.

Burial will follow at Nolia Cemetery, Nolia, OK.

Pallbearers will include David Donica, Judy Cline, Lavelle Rose, Charles Cubit, Chad Fewell, and Jessica Fields. Honorary pallbearer will be Rodman Donica.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 21, 2019, from 6:00-8:00PM, at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow, OK.
