Levi Henry Zentz
, 93, civil war veteran, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Smith at 3:30 a.m. Thursday of heart trouble. He had been ill about two weeks.
Mr. Zentz was born in Ohio and came to Iowa in 1857. He served with Company F, 36th Iowa infantry, during the civil war. He was held prisoner by confederates for ten months at Camp Ford, Tex. He entered the priosn on May 15, 1864, and was released Feb. 15, 1865 when the confederate and union forces exchanged prisoners.
Mr. Zentz was at one time a farmer in Kansas, coming to Council Bluffs in 1892. He was employed by the New York Plumbing company and by the city water works.
He is survived by three sons, William Zentz of Council Bluffs, Charles E. Zentz of Omaha, Artman Zentz of Arcadia, Nob.; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Smith of Council Bluffs; thirty-three grandchildren and fifty-four great grandchildren. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. Cutler's mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
