ALICE CLEMENTINE ANDERS METCALF

WEAVERVILLE - Alice Anders Metcalf, 83, of Weaverville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 1, 2007, while at her residence.

Born April 24, 1924, in Madison County, she lived most of her life in Buncombe County in the Ivy Hill community.

She was the daughter of the late Levi and Manervia Haynes Anders, and also was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Metcalf; son, Alvin Metcalf; son-in-law, James Griffin; and sister, Ellen Smith.

Mrs. Metcalf is survived by her children, Lorraine Griffin, of Mars Hill, Frances Melton and husband, Lewis, of Black Mountain, Geneva Bailey and husband, Morris, of Mars Hill, Randell Metcalf and wife, Rachel, of Weaverville, Wanda Hensley and husband, Larry, of Fletcher, Marion Goforth and husband, Charles, of Gaffney, S.C., Loretta Edwards and husband, Charles, of Fletcher, Ottis Metcalf, of Weaverville, Ray Metcalf and wife, Sandy, of Alexander, Iris Edwards and husband, Maurice, of Duncan, S.C., Betty Rogers and husband, James, of Hendersonville, Jerry Metcalf and wife, Ann, of Meridian, Miss., Jack Metcalf and wife, Melissa, of Weaverville, and Teddy Metcalf and Gale Metcalf, of the home; 25 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Emma Rice and Reggie Whitt.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Ivy Hill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Worth G. Emory and Bobby Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at Ivy Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Charles Griffin, Keith Melton, Chad Melton, Dewayne Hensley, Danny Edwards, Shannon Metcalf, Chris Metcalf, Derek Metcalf and Tony Metcalf.
