Elaine Rose Stone

Our sweet wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister Elaine Rose Stone was called home by our loving Heavenly Father early in the morning of February 12, 2019 from the cruel disease of Alzheimer’s.

Elaine was born to her wonderful parents John and Marion East Rose July 9, 1934 in Ogden, Utah. She grew up in Warren, Utah until her parents moved to Ogden. She started school in Warren and then continued at Mound Fort through the tenth grade. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1952 where she had received excellent training as a secretary-stenographer.

Elaine began her work career as the secretary for the branch manager of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. She continued there for three years when, in 1955 she was introduced to a young airman stationed at Hill Air force Base. She surprised him by saying “Yes” to his proposal for marriage. They were married February 17, 1956 in the little base chapel (now part of the Hill Aerospace Museum). Thirty three days later her husband, Paul Stone, left for an assignment to Tachikawa, Japan. She continued at Metro Life until she was coaxed into joining her husband in Japan in August 1956. She was scared having never flown before. She soon passed the civil service secretarial test with high marks and was hired at the headquarters on base. They saw and did many things while in Japan and then returned to the United States on a troop carrier ship. Which was not so much fun for her.

After a couple of frustrating years and no children coming, they welcomed a sweet little baby girl Susan. Two and a half years later they welcomed a little boy Jeffrey into their lives. Finally two little children to love, cherish, raise and train. What a wonderful blessing!

Elaine and Paul’s marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on July 12, 1979.

Following eighteen joyful years as a stay at home mom, Elaine returned to her original vocation as an elementary school secretary in the Ogden School District and retired in 1999.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Paul, daughter, Susan Ewing and son Jeffrey (Susan) Stone. Also five grandchildren; Tonya (CB) Brown, Tiffanie (Jason) Reid, Stephanie, Ethan and Natalie Stone. Four great grandchildren; Jordan, Dallas, Payton and Adison Brown. Her brother Lynn Rose.

A viewing will be Friday, February 15, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm. with funeral services on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Myers Mortuary 5865 South 1900 W Roy, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the services 11:30-12:45 pm.
