Mary Jo Long, 76, of Abilene, died Tuesday, May 23, 2006, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Born in Marlow, Oklahoma, on March 16, 1930, she was the daughter of Esther (Moseley) and William Miniard McDaniel. Mary Jo was a homemaker and a member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church in Abilene.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, George B. Long, in 2000; her parents; and a brother, Byron McDaniel.

Survivors include her husband, Troy Thomas of Colorado Springs, CO; sons, Billy Long and wife, Sondra, of Allen, Texas, and Dale Long and wife, Diane, of Abilene; daughter, Wanda Holland and husband, George, of Buffalo Gap; and stepdaughter, Cookie Russell and husband, Bob, of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by grandchildren, Amy Beam and husband, David, Adam Holland and wife, Amanda, Byron Long and wife, Evelyn, Jason Long, Mitch Long, Evan Long, and Carrie Ann Thomas, and great-grandchildren, Bailey Beam, Chloe Beam, Caleb Long and Cerise Long.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Crescent Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Chancellor officiating. Entombment will be in Elmwood Memorial Park Mausoleum directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be David Beam, Adam Holland, Byron Long, Jason Long, Mitch Long and Evan Long.

Memorials may be made to Crescent Heights Baptist Church, 1902 N. Mockingbird, Abilene, TX 79603, or American Heart Association, 149 N. Willis, Abilene, TX 79603.
