Ray E. Olomon, 88, of Rockford, IL died at 7:50 a.m., Sunday, February 3, 2019 at St Anne’s Center after a brief illness.

Born November 27, 1930 in Freeport, IL, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Evan and Sylvia Olomon, graduated from Freeport High School. Ray married the former Ellen M. Relph in Belvidere, IL on July 5, 1957. He was employed as a tool and die maker for various manufactures throughout northern Illinois before retiring in 1999 and was a veteran of the United Stated Army, serving during peacetime as a MP in Austria. Ray was a member of First Congregational Church in Roscoe, IL and the NRA. He also was an avid trap shooter being involved in many leagues and was involved in horse showing and training throughout the Midwest. Ray was also a blood donor.

Survivors include daughter Cathy (Patrick) Henderson of Roscoe, IL; daughter Laura (David) Price of Rockton, IL; grandchildren Brad (Wendy) Johnson, Stephanie (Bill) Britton, Adam Henderson, Valerie (Matt) Bauer, and Nathan Price; five great grandchildren; brother Bob Olomon of Rockford, IL and one nephew Bob.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Roger Johnson and granddaughter Libby.

Memorial ceremonies were held Tuesday, February 12, 2019 in McCorkle Funeral Home- Rockton Chapel, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, IL with Pastor Lisa Abb, pastor of First Congregational Church of Roscoe, IL officiating. Burial will be in Roscoe Township Cemetery. Cremation rites to be accorded.
