Mr. John Milton Tanner, age 82 of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at 12:24 PM on Tuesday January 8, 2018 in Biloxi, MS from complications of cancer. He was born on August 5, 1936 to his loving and thoughtful parents Horace G Tanner and Maude C Crowe. John proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1963 as a non commissioned officer. He married the love of his life, Darla “Jean” Hoodenpyle on June 18, 1966 and they worked each and every day together side by side until her death in 1990. John was an entrepreneur always working on the next deal. For those of us that knew John well, we all know he embraced the idea of a phone on each ear long before that became trendy.

He was a loving and devoted family man. He enjoyed all sports, grocery shopping, and of all things organizing the pantry! He often enjoyed dropping the kids off to school in style just to start their day in a special way.

He is preceded in death by his wife Darla “Jean” Tanner; son, James “Timothy’ Tanner; sister, Geraldine Tanner and brother, Glen Tanner.

John (Dad) will be sincerely missed by his loving family, his devoted friends and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved him. He is survived by his daughters, Shana L Clark of Chelsea, AL, Jeri K. Calle of Blue Ridge, TX and Bettina L. Bowling of Terrell, TX; son, Bradley D. Tanner of Denton, TX; sister, Margaret Tanner of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

At this time, funeral services for Mr. John Milton Tanner are scheduled on Thursday January 17, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Restland's Abbey Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior.

Funeral arrangements for John Milton Tanner have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
