"P.T. Shirkey, Salida's well known and popular jeweler, is in Anaconda, Montana, having gone there to attend the wedding ceremony, uniting his son, George, to one of the young society ladies of that city. The wedding occurred on Sunday."

"J.P. Shirkey and wife have located in Salida and Mr. Shirkey will establish a jewelry store as soon as he can procure a suitable location. They came to Salida from Pennsylvania but were recently located in Pankalan Berandan, Sumatra."

*Pangkalan Brandan is a port town in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra province, Indonesia, forty miles north west of Medan, close to the boundary with Aceh. The area's population is estimated at around 21,000. Oil deposits were discovered close to the village by a Dutch tobacco planter, Aeilko Jans Zijlker, in 1885.
