Funeral services for Elsie Vida Gober Smith Bean, 82, of Brownwood will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8 at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with her nephew, Dr. Stephen Brazzel officiating, with Ronald Adams and Andy Smith giving eulogies.

Burial will follow in Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of the Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening (July 7) at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Born the eighth of nine children in Bouser, to John and Lucy Gober, Elsie was raised in Brownwood.

She married James Eldon Smith in Brownwood. They made their home in Odessa, where they owned Odessa Insulation Company. He preceded her in death in 1964.

She retired from Smith Furniture Store in 1991 returning to Lake Brownwood to be near her family.

Elsie is survived by a daughter, Sandra Miller, of Brownwood; a son, James Smith of Sweetwater; grandchildren, Michelle Loyd, Melissa Davis, Amanda Knight and Shelly Smith; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Linnie Green of Midland, Edna Wagnon of Trinity, and Inez Lack of Brownwood; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death is her husband, L.M. Bean; a son, Jerry Smith; four brothers, John Albert, Emmitt, Walter and Elton Gober; and a sister, Myrtle Adams.

The pallbearers will be Clifton Gober, Ray Brazzel, Steve Lack, Tom Lack, David Gober and Fred Adams.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
