Jack Willard Bruner, Sr. passed away on January 25, 2019. He was born and raised on northside Houston attending neighborhood schools and graduating from Jefferson Davis High School. Jack was drafted into the Army and served in the 50th AAA located in Norfolk, Virginia where he received training as a radar operator. He later attended Sam Houston State University on the GI Bill and enjoyed his studies and many friendships including those with fellow veterans.
Jack had a 32-year career as a Machinist at Cameron Iron Works/Wyman-Gordon and was a member of Masonic Lodge #1294. Jack loved nature and had a passion for growing plants and flowers. He also was dedicated to acquiring knowledge and kept a long list of books he read. His interest in genealogy occupied many hours and produced a thorough family history. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Bruner, and sister Olga Marie Bruner.
He is survived by his wife Wanda Jones Bruner, his children Jack W. Bruner, Jr. and Susan Wood, his step-children Cyndi and husband Richard Williams, Rick and wife Tammy Ellis; his grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Anna Louise Bruner.
A Service will be held on February 23, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Lake Houston United Methodist Church 23606 FM 2100 Huffman, Texas with Reverends Frank Coats and Jim Flagg officiating. Interment follows at Brookside Cemetery with a Masonic Service conducted by Melrose Lodge #1294. After interment, all are invited to a lunch/reception at the church.
