Dexter grew up in a large family with humble beginnings.
Dexter proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Dexter married the love of his life, Pauline on December 27, 1958. He owned Dexter's Upholstery in Centerville. He enjoyed following the Kentucky Wildcats, was an avid card player and loved to play in tournaments in Las Vegas.
He owned many race horses over the years and could often be found at Lebanon Raceway or Scioto Downs. He attended Zion Lutheran Church, was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Miami Valley Country Club, where he loved to play Bingo. Family and friends meant everything to Dexter and he will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pauline "PJ" Johnson to whom he was married for 40 years; his parents, Walker and Anna Johnson; his brothers, Franklin Johnson, Loyal Johnson, Jerry Johnson, Edward Johnson; sisters, Josie Peyton, Jessie Geary.
Dexter is survived by his only daughter, Sherri Lynn Johnson Crowe, his "favorite" son in-law Martin Crowe and his beloved grandbaby Carly (CJ) Chamberlain; his siblings Dwayne (Linda) Johnson, Dennis (Betty) Johnson, Larry (Teresa) Johnson, Don Johnson, Barbara (Don) Schaffer and Lindian (Jack) Phillips, numerous nieces, nephews, sister in-laws Alma Hacker and Betty June Finley, his "adopted son" Kent Craeger and many good friends dear to his heart.
