Son of Gervase Blakeslee and Polly Guernsey, husband of Jane Brizzee. He was the father of Oscar and Orthello, (both killed in the Civil War), Martha Jane, Polly, and Frances Helen.

J. Guernsey Blakslee, a prominent and respected citizen living near East Troy, died on Sunday last, from bilious colic. He had been sick but a few days (The Northern Tier Gazette, Troy, Pennsylvania, Thursday, March 23, 1871).
