Clarence "Chic" Thomas Sorensen Jr., 72 of Piedmont, MO, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019 at John J Pershing VA Medical Center, Poplar Bluff, MO. He was born in Chicago, IL, December 28, 1946 to parents Clarence Thomas and Josephine Rose (Ginex) Sorensen Sr. Chic was a loving husband, father and grand-father. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. While serving in Vietnam he earned a Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal and Viet Nam Campaign Medal. He volunteered for the police department, fire department and the Salvation Army. Chic was a Ham Radio operator with call sign: N90RF. He was a Locomotive Engineer for fourteen years and a life member of the VFW and the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters: Clara Mae Antonacci and Maria Josephine Sorensen.
A graveside service was held Monday, February 4, 2019 at Mo State Veteran Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.
