He was the son of Elias Morrison Jackson and Mary Margaret Patterson Jackson. He married Mary Erixnia Currence. He served in the 18th South Carolina Volunteer Confederate States Army, Catawba Light Infantry, Company H. He was wounded & listed as missing July 30, 1864 at the Battle of the Crater Virginia. He lost his arm from this wound.
