January 30, 2019 Joe A. Abbatello, 81, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Joe retired from Norfolk Southern with 41 years of service. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus and held numerous positions, including Grand Knight. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rose Abbatello; son, Michael Abbatello; sisters, Mary Collins and Carmella Dillow; brothers, Dominic and George Abbatello; and half-sister, Minnie Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Abbatello; his son and daughter-in-law, Joe Abbatello III and Lisa Abbatello; grandchildren, Kayla and Joseph Abbatello; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at noon on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until noon on Wednesday before the funeral service.
