Harley Tipton (Tip) Skidmore Jr., 71, of 131 A Laurel Circle, Waynesville died Wednesday, March 14, 2007.
Tip, as most of his friends knew him, was born and raised in Swain County. He was raised by his grandparents, Laura and Charles Skidmore, and attended Swain County public schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife Mary; a son, Tip III of Green Bay, Wisc.; and three daughters, Candice and Michelle of Atlanta, Ga. and Lotei of Washington, D.C.
He was an accomplished musician and formed his own country-western band and toured throughout the United States. He will be remembered by his friends as a happy-go-lucky fellow who traveled through life and enjoyed it all.
The funeral service and burial with military honors were held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 16 in Western North Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
