Sammie attended the Kershaw County Board of Disabilities for many years. He was a member of the Household of Faith Holiness Church in Camden, South Carolina where Elder David Williams is his Pastor.

He was preceded to death by his parents and his sisters Elizabeth Davis and Magaret Pringle.

He leaves to cherish his memories includes: his devoted niece and special caregiver Betty (Wayne) Smith and their son Shemar of the home and their daughter Staff Sergeant Shakeria Radden of Ft. Story, Virginia Beach, VA; a brother Aaron (Delores) Ellington of Neptune, NJ; four sisters Louise Miller, Evelyn Ellington and Carolyn Ellington all of Neptune, NJ; Carrie Mae Crim of Horatio, SC, special cousin(s) Teressa and Courtney. Two Aunts, Edmomnia Wade of Rembert, SC and Patricia Weathers of Ridley Park, PA., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A special thanks to Sharon Burnett and Charlene Richardson who devoted their time sitting with Sammie as well as all other caregivers.
