Crowell, Jr. was working as a carpenter when he married Abbie Dill, the daughter of Ezekiel and May, at Boston on May 1, 1851. They were the parents Arabella, born in 1853, and Charles, born in 1860, both at Eastham, MA. It's clear the family were residents of East Boston and residing on White St. by 1864 when daughter Arabella died at eleven years of age.
The 1870 and 1880 census records indicate Crowell working as a box maker, however, by the latter year's census the family was residing in Chelsea. Son Charles, then 19, also worked as a box maker.
Crowell was 66 years old when he died at 293 Chestnut St., Chelsea due to paralysis. His wife Abbie would survive him by three years.
