LOCOMOTIVE EXPLOSION - ENGINEER KILLED - We learn that Engine No. 146, employed as a "pusher" on the local freight train, on the Pennsylvania Railroad, exploded on Saturday, February 4, 1865, in the vicinity of Wilmore. It is reported that the Engineer, Joseph Parks, Sr., had a leg blown off, and has since died on February 5, 1865, from the effects of his injuries. He resided and died in Altoona. We have no other particulars.
ETCHINGS - Mr. Joseph Parks, engineer of the locomotive which blew up at Wilmore a week or so since, was so badly injured by the explosion that he died shortly afterward. He resided at Conemaugh, this county with his family, and leaves this very large family behind.
DIED - Joseph Parks, the engineer who was injured by the explosion of a locomotive on the Pennsylvania Railroad on Saturday, died Sunday, February 5, 1865 at his residence near Altoona, Pennsylvania, from the effects of his injuries.
He leaves a widow, Rebecca, and a large family of children.
