Jeff Langford, local pharmacist and pillar of our community, died unexpectedly at the age of 69 on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.

Jeff was born in Terre Haute, Ind., on March 18, 1947, to Jay and Louise (Jordan) Langford. After a short stint in Terre Haute, his family moved to Sheffield, Ill., where his father opened a small-town pharmacy, beginning a legacy Jeff would eventually carry on. The oldest of three, he spent his childhood hunting, fishing, golfing and tormenting friends with practical jokes and crazy antics. Despite his rabblerousing, Jeff graduated Valedictorian from high school and went on to earn a degree in pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

College sweethearts Renée Carr LeGrande and Jeff married on June 10, 1972. Shortly thereafter they moved to Amery, where he began his pharmacy career and started a family. In 1979, Jeff saw the opportunity to open his own shop, and moved the family to Washburn. He purchased the pharmacy on Bayfield Street, and from opening day, he dispensed medications, advice, community support, bad jokes, photos of his children, and Badger pride.

Pharmacist, golfer, hunter, fisherman, sausage maker, Rotarian, Elk, Badger, member of the Chamber of Commerce...there isn’t a life in Washburn that he didn’t touch in one way or another. Rarely leaving his spot at the center of Washburn life, he nonetheless raised three worldly daughters and supported countless others to succeed, here in Wisconsin and beyond.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Renée; his three children, Tonya (Thatch) Moyle of Portland, Ore., Megan (JJ) Ossola of Telluride, Colo., and Allison (Corey) Nyara of Washburn; six grandchildren, Una, Adeline, Octavia, Irvin, Wyatt, and Della; his brother, Greg (Janet) Langford of Odenton, Md. Jeff was preceded in death by his mother Louise Jordan Langford; father Irvin Jay Langford; and sister Laurel (Langford) Zernitz.
