Joseph T. Nader, 78, of Fairhaven, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 21, 2019, at St. Luke's Hospital, in New Bedford, after a period of declining health. He was the son of the late Antone and Sabette (Joseph) Nader.

Tragedy struck early in his life when he lost his mother shortly after giving birth to twin sons. His twin brother died at the age of two. He had a deep love and respect for his father who made many sacrifices to keep the family together.

He was a 1960 graduate of New Bedford High School and also attended Rhode Island Radio School. He worked in local electronic firms, such as Bristol Electronics, before eventually securing a job at Otis Air Force National Guard Base in the Precision Measurement Equipment Lab (PMEL).

He was an avid skier and spent many weekends at his ski club, the Massa-Schussers in Bartlett, New Hampshire, where he made many lifelong friends. His all time favorite mountain to ski was Wildcat. Summers were spent sailing the waters of Buzzards Bay on his 22 foot sailboat the St. Sharbel with his friends from Sea Space.

He was a lifelong communicant of Our Lady of Purgatory Maronite Parish and was also a member of the St. Joseph's Sodality of his parish. He was a former Adorer at Our Lady's Chapel, a member of the Legion of Mary, and the St. Damien Pro-Life Prayer group.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, Charlene Barlow, Tammy Stephens, Christopher Bessette, Heidi Bessette, Holly Deluca, Christine Westmooreland, Lori Lowrey and the late Mark Bourassa; several great nieces and nephews and his devoted friend and caregiver. He was the last of seven children, the late Richard Nader, Joe’s twin Thomas Nader, Adele Lindsay, Helen Nader, Delia Bourassa and Charlotte H. Bessette.

His funeral will be Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 9am, from the funeral home followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10am in Our Lady of Purgatory Church, New Bedford. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford.
