Obituary:

Dorothy Lee Jones, 90, passed away peacefully at her home January 27, 2019. She was born to Jess and Elzonia (McCarty) Barfield March 17, 1928 in Hico, TX.

Dorothy received Jesus Christ as her Savior at a young age. She married Charlie Everett Jones, June 1, 1946, in Lawton, OK. The couple decided to move to Missouri in 1966 and Dorothy asked that Everett find them a home near a local church she could attend. Everett purchased a farm in Solo, MO within ¼ mile of New Hope Baptist Church. Dorothy loved New Hope and was faithful right to the end. She was dressed and ready for church, she lay on the couch for a short nap until time to leave, and then passed into eternity.

She will be greatly missed by family and friends. She always found time to fix dinners and lend a helping hand to all in need. Dorothy loved her family, church, and even complete strangers. She was very hospitable, and knew no other way to live her life. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, spending time in the yard with her flowers, and especially feeding her wild birds- the “red birds” were her favorite.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Richard; and two granddaughters. She is survived by her children, Ernie, Eddie, Mike, Kenny and Glenda; nineteen grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; great great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a faithful dog Max.
