SHELLEY - Oscar Burke, 87, of Taylor, died November 12, 1991 at his home of heart failure.


He was born April 14, 1904 at Jameston to Oscar and Elizabeth Humphries Burke. He grew up in Jameston, attended schools in Shelley, and graduated from Shelley High School. He also attended Ricks Academy. On April 4, 1930 he married Lavetta Fugal in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.


He made his home in the Taylor-Jameston area, where he farmed all his life. He had been active in the Bingham County Farm Bureau for many years.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and served a mission in the Northwest/Central states. He also served as an officiator in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.


Survivors include his wife of Taylor; his children, Joyce Robertson of Boise, Sherril Thompson of Bountiful, Utah, JoAnn Packer of Idaho Falls, Irene Murdoch and Linda Dalley, both of Salt Lake City, and Roger O. Burke of Taylor; a brother and sister, Eugene Burke of Jameston and Anna Simpson of Iona; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, a brother, and a granddaughter.


Funeral services will be Saturday in the Taylor LDS Church with Bill Hampton officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
