They had two children, a boy and a girl who lived to adulthood. A newspaper announcement in a Chicago paper read "Mrs. Thomas Western Heyland of 5610 Dorchester Avenue announces the marriage of her daughter, Anita Letitia, to Burtram Willcox Hopkins of Chicago, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burtram C. Hopkins of Des Moines, Iowa, on September 8." Anita's passed away in a nursing home in Lake Forest after an extended illness on January 18, 1970, and her body was cremated and her ashes scattered in the Rose Garden of Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois.
