Father/parent: Richard Scott
Walter married Alice Coombes 5 Oct 1878
Mr. Walter Scott. It will be remembered that a short time ago Mr. Scott tripped and fell while walking, and broke his thigh. He was taken to tbe hospital, but other complications setting in he succumbed yesterday. The deceased had been caretaker of the Lamington Bridge since its opening, and was similarly in charge of the old wooden bridge before it was carried away in 1893. He was a carpenter by trade, but many years ago, some time in the eighties, met with a dreadful accident which nearly cost him his life, and crippled him permanently. He afterwards became caretaker of the public floating baths erected by Mr. Chas. Powers, at the foot of North street, and held that position till the baths were destroyed by the flood of 1887. The deceased leaves a wife and grown up family to mourne his loss. The funeral takes place this morning.
