She met her life partner, Homer A. Peters while he was still serving our country. They married on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1942.
Together they shared 54 years of love and support for one another and never missed a chance to dance in each other’s arms. Lorine was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and served there on the Ladies Society Mission Circle. She was employed at General Electric for 32 years, retiring in 1983, her last 12 years as GE Elex Club Advisor. Her dedication and love for this group continued after retirement, serving them in many positions. She received many special acknowledgements and awards including the Humanitarian Award named after her. During her retirement, from 1993 to 2012, she found time to be an usher at the Grand Wayne Convention Center. Lorine and Homer also enjoyed many a goodtime and also served at the American Legion Post 330 in New Haven. She will also be remembered for her many thoughtful notes and thank yous she sent to people who touched her life.
She is survived by her sons, Stanley A. (Robin) Peters of North Fort Myers, FL and Gregory A. (Colleen) Peters of New Haven; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Homer in 1996; sister, Helen Koenemann; and grandson, Bryan Thomas Peters.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 800 Green Rd., New Haven with visitation one-hour prior. Pastor Scott Zeckzer officiating. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Harper’s Community Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with GE Elex memorial service at 3:30 p.m. Burial in the church cemetery.
