Evelyn M. Collins, age 92, passed away peacefully Jan. 22, 2019, in Rockwall, Texas.
Evelyn was born Nov. 12, 1926, in Shamrock to Hans Allen Pounds and Cora Melvina (Westfall) Pounds. Evelyn lived in Ada for 50 years, happily married to W.W. "Toby" Collins, whom she married in June of 1949 in Tulsa.
A regular at Ada High School sporting events, all five of Evelyn's and Toby's children graduated from Ada High School. She served as the PBX supervisor at East Central University for 25 years and was a longtime member of the Ada First United Methodist Church.
Also an amazing cook, Evelyn enjoyed reading, fishing and camping with her family and friends. She absolutely loved dancing, having met Toby doing so, and they continued dancing throughout their marriage. Evelyn also enjoyed performing with the Ada Healthy Heart Club.
With a smile and love for each of them, Evelyn's number-one priority was her family, and they are going to miss her tremendously.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Jud Collins and wife, Lynda, of Mannford, Terry Collins of Garland, Texas, Lee Collins and wife, Shelly, of Sherman, Texas, and Sherri Neeley and husband Russell of Rockwall, Texas; grandchildren: Blake Collins and wife, Shelly, of Owasso, Breanna White and husband, Luke, of Edmond, Monica Williams of Arlington, Texas, Jessie McCoy and husband, John, of Northfield, Minnesota, Julie Sanchez and husband, Corey, of Italy, Texas, Nolan Collins and wife, Victoria, of Ireland, Brennen Collins of Washington, D.C., Alayna Collins of Garland, Justin Collins and wife, Rebecca, of Plano, Texas, Chase Collins and wife, Aimee, of St. Petersburg, Florida, Zachary Behrend of Panama City Beach, Florida, Carley Behrend of Fort Worth, Texas, Hailey Behrend of College Station, Texas, Patrick Fraser of Dallas, Griffin Fraser of Dallas, Cristina Neeley of Rockwall and Ryan Neeley of Rockwall; great-grandchildren: Wilder Collins, Gwyneth Collins, Adalyn Collins, Ellia White, Palmer White, Ashton Williams, Ella Williams, Hudson Williams, Jensen Williams, Addison McCoy, Mason McCoy, Vivienne Sanchez Annabelle Sanchez and Natalie Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband: W.W. "Toby" Collins; son: Toby A. Collins; brother: Andrew Pounds; and sisters: Frances Williams and Irene Dodson.
A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 610 S. Goliad St., Rockwall, Texas, 75087, with Pastor Bubba Thurman officiating.
