June 26, 1938 - January 22, 2019

Linda L. Akins 80, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Marion and Helen (Edminston) Cunningham. She married Dale Akins on February 4, 1961. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2002.
Surviving is her daughter Beth Akins Sugarman (Bruce) of New York City; her sons, all of Altoona: Mark Akins, Matthew Akins, Michael Akins (Tori); her grandchildren: Jason Akins (Lindsey), Mallory Painter (Jared), Natthan Akins, Andrew Akins, Allison Akins Sugarman, Jared Sugarman, Ethan Dale Akins, and Spencer Michael Akins; and five great-grandchildren: Finley, Paige, Evelyn, Brooks, and Pearl.
Linda was a graduate of Altoona High School. She was a homemaker, and had previously worked for Bell Telephone.
She was a member of Altoona Symphony Orchestra—second chair violinist, and enjoyed classical music; she also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and travelling, especially to the beach.
She had previously been a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 25, 2019, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where an 11:00 AM funeral service will be held Saturday, January 26.
Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery.
