A son of the late William and Mary Louise (Dean) Bailey, Jack was a World War II and a Korean War veteran, having served four years in the Marines and then serving his country again in the Air Force. He is a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for 54 years served as usher, President of the Notre Dame Athletic Association, the Notre Dame P.T.A., President of the South Shore Little League, member of the American Legion, an avid golfer and member of the Elks Country Club, member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, served Meals on Wheels, a very proud member of Veterans Honor Flight. He married the love of his life, Mary Alice (Schisler) Bailey, on May 9, 1952, who survives him. Jack and Mary earned degrees at the University of Kentucky and were lifelong fans of the sports programs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Mark Bailey of Nashville, TN, Andrew Bailey (Molly) of Dublin, and Lesley Jones (Joe) of Portsmouth, four grandchildren, Aaron Jones, Jack Bailey, Beth Bailey, and Hannah Bailey, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth (Bailey) Delker, and a niece, Margaret Delker Perry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, January 25, 2019 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Rev. Christopher Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery where graveside military honors will be provided by the American Legion.
