Mary Elizabeth Garner passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born September 4, 1938 in Dallas TX to the late Elbert Franklin and Emily Elizabeth Sims Carey, both of whom preceded her in death along with her son and daughter-in-law Mike and Hana Thompson.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and her family was her greatest blessing. Mary worked for many years as a dispatcher for the Balch Springs Police Dept where her calm demeanor was a valued asset by the department and her colleagues.

Mary is survived by her daughter Dana Patton and husband, Johnny; son, Jay Thompson and wife, Kat; 6 grandchildren: Christopher “CJ” Patton, Anthony “A.J.” Patton, Danielle “Punkin” Patton, Lilly Thompson, Kelly Garza and Raymond Wiseman; and 14 Great Grandchildren as well as other extended family and many friends.

Family will receive friends 5 pm to 7 pm, Thursday, January 24, at Max Slayton Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell.
