Alice C. Josephsen, 84, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday morning, June 27, 2007, at her home.
She was a charter member of Westmore Church of God.
A former resident of New Jersey, she was born in Pleasantville on June 6, 1923, and graduated in 1941 from Egg Harbor High School. She took additional studies at Rutgers University in New Jersey and Lee College. She was a graduate of International Preparatory Institute in San Antonio, Texas.
She served as a missionary in Puerto Rico and Guatemala. While serving in Puerto Rico she was called by the Church of God World Missions in 1953 to serve as their Spanish translator where she was a faithful and loyal servant.
In 1967 she became employed by Superior Olds-Cadillac-GMC, where she remained until her retirement in June of 1999.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Josephsen; and her brothers: Robert and Donald.
Survivors include two brothers: Gene Josephsen of Elgin, Ill. and Howard Josephsen of Nacogdoches, Texas; sister and her husband, Carol and Ken Whitlock of Orlando, Fla.; and wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, who were a delight to her.
She has an adopted Cleveland family whom she loved dearly and they are: Dot and Joe Grigsby family, Donald and Janet Mullinax family, Red and Geneva Mullinax family, Allen Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Chad Williams, all of Gainesville, Fla.; also very special to her was her dear and longtime friend, Jennie Mullinax with whom she made her home; and Lorraine Alton and Sherry Harris who helped care for her and loved her very much.
The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2007, at Grissom Funeral Home with the Revs. Jerry Timmerman and Wendell Smith officiating.
Interment will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Robert Josephsen, William Harris, Jeffrey Grigsby, Greg Grigsby and Bob Dansler serving as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
