SEATTLE, Wash. - William "Bill" D. Buss, of Seattle, died on Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, as a result of a car accident. His wife, Catherine G. (McAdams) Buss, died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 21, 2005.
Bill was born Jan. 31, 1927, in Lake Mills, Wis., son of Lewis and Pearl (Deppe) Buss. He attended Lake Mills High School and graduated from high school in Waterloo, Wis. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Catherine was born June 28, 1925, in Watertown, Wis., daughter of Arnold and Mary (Norton) McAdams. She graduated from Watertown High School.
Catherine married Clarence Reinhard at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Watertown on June 6, 1946. Clarence died in an industrial accident. Bill and Catherine married on Nov. 20, 1948, at St. James Catholic Church in Madison, Wis. They raised four children.
They lived in Lake Mills and Fort Atkinson, Wis., before moving to the Seattle area in 1965. Bill worked as a mechanical engineer and retired from the Boeing Company in Seattle where he served as a facilities equipment engineer. Catherine retired from Highline Community College where she was the supervisor of registration.
They are preceded in death by their son, Daniel William Buss; Bill's parents and his stepfather, Robert Bierchen; Catherine's parents and siblings, Maryellen Hjort, Patricia Palmer, Jeanne Schiffer, James McAdams, Maureen Czernek and Sharon Olson.
They are survived by one son, Michael (Sherry) Buss and their children, Cathy and Kelly of Ken, Wash.; two daughters, Barbara (Dennis) Fugleberg of Kingston, Wash., and Nancy (Kenneth) Opheikens and their children, Maureen and Danny of Federal Way, Wash.; Bill's aunt, Ruth Deppe of Lake Mills; Catherine's sister, Rosemarie (Tom) Beers of Medford, Ore.; and in-laws, Robert Hjort, Bud Palmer, Elaine McAdams and Bill Czernek; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
They were rarely apart and shared a love of travel to favorite spots in Ireland, England and the state of Maine in the fall. They were active boaters in their younger years. Bill loved to garden and Catherine loved to sew and play bridge. They had a hard time passing up a garage sale.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Watertown. Interment will be in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery at a later time.
