Funeral services for Jimmie Yvonne Burd, 82, of Elgin Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Crossroads Baptist Church in Elgin with Gary Neighbors and Larry Thoma officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Elgin Cemetery under the direction of Elgin Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Monday from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Yvonne passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019 in Denton, Texas at the age of 82.

Jimmie Yvonne (Moore) Burd was born January 2, 1937 in Sterling, Oklahoma to Lehman and Roberta (Vaughan) Moore. She grew up in Sterling where she graduated from Sterling High School in 1954. She married Charles Burd on December 12, 1952. The two were married for 54 years when he passed away in 2007. After graduation, Yvonne attended Lawton Beauty School where she graduated as a licensed cosmetologist in 1962. She owned and operated Yvonne’s Beauty Nook for 44 years until she retired to care for her husband. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elgin for many years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, and ceramics. Of all the things she enjoyed, her family was the most important. She loved being a Maw Maw to not only her family but anyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Connie Seymour and her husband Russell, of Denton, TX and Cathy Landers, of McKinney, TX; a granddaughter that she raised as her own, Rachel Ezell and her husband Kyle, of Elgin; 1 brother: Newt Moore and Sherry Milligan, of Bray; 2 sisters: Janice Williams, of Midwest City and Judy Cavicchio, of Oklahoma City; 7 grandchildren: Scott Seymour, Eric Seymour and his wife Elizabeth, Chance Landers and his wife Haley, Bryce Landers and his wife Ashton, Alyssa Walvoord and her husband Austin, Ryan Hughes and Shannon Higuet, and George Chongris; and 7 great grandchildren: Rhett and Beau Seymour, Parker and Hadley Ezell, Case Landers and 1 on the way, Callen Landers, and Beckham and Brooks Walvoord; special family friends, Melvadean and Doyle Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Lehman and Roberta Moore; her husband, Charles Burd; and 1 son, Chris Burd.
