Miguel Angel Alvarez

Miguel Angel Alvarez passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017, at the age of 78. He was born in El Paso, TX and was a resident of Smeltertown. He graduated from Cathedral High School, Texas Western College of Mines and St. Mary’s University Law School in San Antonio. He was in private practice as an attorney and later served as a Judge in the State of Texas. He founded the first Legal Aide Clinic in the State of Texas, and was the Vice Chair of the El Paso Airport Board. He was also on the Mass Transit Board.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ramon E. Alvarez, his mother Consuelo Ramon Alvarez, and his sister, Lilia B. Alvarez. He is survived by his wife, Estela A. Alvarez, his children: Lilia B. Alvarez, and Miguel A. Alvarez Jr., his granddaughter Gisela L. Triana-Alvarez, his sibilings: Ramon Alvarez Jr. and Graciela San Roman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He would like to be remembered as a man who always paid for his drinks. A Visitation will be held Monday, March 20, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N. Resler Dr. 79912. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2017 starting at 11:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi, 5750 Doniphan Dr. 79932. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens of The Valley Cemetery, 4900 McNutt Rd., Santa Teresa, NM 88008.
