Mickey grew up and attended school at Doyle, Oklahoma. On April 2, 1955, Mickey married his wife Sue in Foster, Oklahoma. He farmed and ranched most of his life. He also worked at an oil field supply company. In his spare time, Mickey enjoyed aggravating friends, chasing cattle, hunting and watching westerns.
