A funeral service will be held for Melvin Edward Gray, 49, of Lansing, Mich., on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Etter Funeral Home.
The service will be conducted by the Rev. Marvin F. Kerby, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.
Mr. Gray was a veteran of World War II and had been employed as a foreman on the Keystone highway project at Snow Shoe, Pa. He was born Oct. 8, 1916, in Afton, a son of the late John William and Fannie Lee Davis Gray.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Mae Fitzgerald Gray of Lansing; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Peggy) Jacobs of Lansing and Mrs. Barry (Joyce) Welch of Ionia, Mich.; four brothers, Floyd F. Gray of Afton, Gordon W. Gray of Woodbridge, Robert H. Gray of Meadows of Dan and Louis F. Gray of Tucson, Ariz.; four sisters, Mrs. C. M. Damron and Mrs. H. F. Damron, both of Afton, Mrs. Lottie Hildebrand of Fishersville and Mrs. Mary Helen Keith of Staunton; seven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Richard Gray, Donald Gray, Junior Damron, Richard Roberts, Ronnie Roberts and Edward Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leslie Fitzgerald, Edgar Rhodes, Allen Roberts, C. K. Vaught, Harry Floyd, Paul Floyd, John Anderson Jr., Coy Anderson, Leland Brown Jr., E. S. Fox Jr., William Miller, Samuel Stevens, Kenny Herring, William Keith Jr., John Anderson Sr., Noel Roberson and Forest Reid.
