Floyd Whitfield Gray, 64, of Route 2, Afton, died at 1:15 a.m. today at Waynesboro Community Hospital where he had been a patient for several hours.

Mr. Gray attended the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, had been employed in the Project and Design Group at Du Pont for 23 years, and was retired May 1, 1961.

He was born in Afton Feb. 2, 1904, a son of the late John William and Fannie Davis Gray.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Childress Gray; one son, Doland E. Gray of Afton; three daughters, Mrs. T. A. (Jean) Halter of Waynesboro, Mrs. Coy (Jo Anne) Anderson and Mrs. William S. (Alice Marie) Keith, both of Afton; three brothers, Gordon W. Gray of Woodbridge, Robert H. Gray of Meadows of Dan and Louis F. Gray of Tucson, Aris.; four sisters, Mrs. C. M. Damron and Mrs. Haywood F. Damron, both of Afton, Mrs. Lottie Hildebrand of Fishersville, and Mrs. Mary Helen Frank, of Staunton, and nine grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of the Etter Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. John Chafee. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Lewis G. Zimmerman, Edgar W. Boyd Jr., L. M. McQuarry, W. L. Brown, Joseph E. Brown, and Harry D. Allen.

Honorary pallbearers will be McKinley Herring, Henry Smith, Scott Miller, John Pugh, Allen Roberts, Ronald Roberts, Harry Floyd, John Anderson Jr., Samuel Stevens, and Forest Bryant.

Friends will be received at the funeral home from 7 to 8 tonight.
