John married Olive March 21, 1907 in Medford, Middlesex, Mass. He had a doctorate in divinity school at Williams, Mass. He chose to live in the South and attempt to help poor people, especially children. See www.folkschool.org for more info.

They had 2 daughters who died before they were 2.

He was previously married to Grace Buckingham. She died of tuberculosis at 36. Their son, Stuart Wallace Campbell, died when he was one month old. Mother and baby are buried at Forest Cemetery, Stevens Point WI.
