Florence, Feb. 16 - Mrs. Mary O'Mara, a native of this place, died at her home in Utica, Feb. 8, 1951, after and illness of two weeks. She was the mother of the Monroe County judge and of two Utica area school teachers.

In her school days, Mrs. O'Mara became interested in English literature and instrumental music, and she retained these interests throughout her life. She was educated at the Academy of the Holy Names, Rome, where she attained high standing in these studies, majoring in piano and organ.

Born here May 11, 1863, a daughter of Thomas and Mary McNamara, she was married June 17, 1885, to John O'Mara, who died in 1933. Since his death she had made her home in Utica.

Mrs. O'Mara was a member of the Catholic Women's Club, St. Elizabeth Guild, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and the Women's Club of that church.

Surviving are three sons, County Judge Daniel J. O'Mara, Rochester; William T., Erie, Pa., and John F. O'Mara, Mexico; three daughters, Kathleen, wife of Francis O'Connor, Westbury, L.I, Miss Mary O'Mara, teacher at Roscoe Conklin School, and Miss Irene O'Mara, teacher in Whitesboro Central School ; a brother Ambrose McNamara, Rome; 11 grandchildren; a niece, Mrs. W. W. Phelan, and a nephew, James C. O'Shea, of Rome.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at a funeral home, and a solemn requiem high mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church by the Rev. Lawrence A. Bassney of Oriskany Falls, assisted by the Rev. John J. Corbett and the Rev. John H. Alfred. The Rev. Joseph F. Ellis, Syracuse, and the Rev. William J. Clark, Oxford, were in the sanctuary.

Bearers were John J. O'Mara, Dr. Joseph J. Regan, Leo McNulty, Vincent R. Corrou, Timothy V. O'Shea and John Dillon.

The body was placed in the receiving vault of Calvary Cemetery with absolution by Father Alfred.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Florence, in the spring.
